Handmade Madrone Wood Buttons

Made from sustainably harvested madrone wood. These wood buttons are made by my seven year old son. Each button has been hand cut, hand drilled, sanded and polished with beeswax and olive oil finish. Two sizes to choose from 1.5 diameter (Large) and 5/8th inch diameter (Small).

Wool Penguins

These penguins are sweet cozy friends ready to play with your children. Their tummies are soft and white and they have the coloring of real emperor penguins. Needle Felted & Wool Balls

I started making needle felted balls last year and then began experimenting with all sorts of different designs and patterns, so each ball is an original creation. I have also put bells inside some of the bells which create a very pleasant sound. These felted balls make an excellent gift for a first or second birthday.

My mother in-law came to spend a week with us and by the end of the week she was hooked on making these balls. Needle felting can be quite relaxing.

Bees Wax Dipped Autumn Leaves

This is a fun project you can do with your children.
It begins with by enjoying a beautiful autumn afternoon, collecting colorful maple leaves.

Your young ones will enjoy collecting leaves of all different shapes and sizes.

Once leaves have been collected you will need to press them in a book for two to three days or longer until flattened and slightly dried.

You will now need bees wax and a small bowl or pot to melt the wax in.

I have a small bowl just for this purpose as the wax does not wash out.

Next begin to melt the wax. I use a double boiler method to melt the wax which takes about 5 to 10 minutes.

Once The Wax is Melted

Holding the leaf by the stem quickly immerse it in the wax and remove.

The wax does not need to be thick, just a thin coating will work.

As you pull the leaf out of the pot hold it pointed downward to allow excess wax drip off.

Next, place the leaf gently on wax paper to dry.

The wax will dry within 2-3 minutes.

Adding Adhesive to Back of the Leaf

You will now need to add an adhesive to the back side of the leaf.

My preferred adhesive is a Stockmar sticky wax. A glue stick will also work as well.

Choose your favorite window and gently press leaves to glass.

Nature Table Waldorf Dolls

We have a nature table in our home and with the changing of the season I am always making new dolls. From King Winter to Summer, Spring Maiden to Autumn Harvester all of these dolls keep with the spirit of the season. I then use silks to line our nature table. The children and I then collect items from nature to then put on to our nature table keeping it a central feature of our living room. These dolls are sold in a set of Four Seasons.

Root Children Waldorf Dolls

The story of the Root – Childern by Sibylle von Olfers has inspired the creation of these little dolls. Created for small hands these little dolls will inspire any child to play endlessly for hours. I recently made a doll set for a friend of mine’s child’s birthday. The dolls were made to resemble each member in their family. The gift was a hit, you can see them below here in this picture.

Felted Penguins

These felted penguins are always a favorite gift of mine to share with my friends. They are pretty quick to make and you can come with all sorts of penguin family members from short ones, thin ones, fat ones, fuzzy little babies, you could even make little penguin eggs for the papa to sit on.
